Q:  What does ‘Buildings’ cover?

A:  The home and its domestic outbuildings, garages, greenhouses, terraces, patios, drives, footpaths, walls, fences, interior decoration, hedges, gates, fixtures & fittings.

 

Q:  What does ‘Contents’ cover?

A:  Household goods, furnishings, window dressings, carpets, flooring coverings, aerials for which you are responsible.

 

Q:  If the contents are damaged are they replaced with new?

A:  If the contents are damaged we will replace as new, as long as the sum insured is at least equal to the cost of replacing all the contents, however we may, at our discretion, pay the cost of repairing any item.

 

Q:  What is classed as ‘personal effects’?

A:  Clothes and articles of a strictly personal nature likely to be worn , used or carried and also portable radios, portable televisions, sports equipment and pedal cycles. Cover is included whilst in the home. Optional cover is available away from the home.

 

Q:  What are classed as’ valuables’?

A:  Any article made from precious metal, jewellery, furs, watches, photographic equipment, video cameras, computer related equipment, binoculars, telescopes, pictures, works of art, stamp, coin & metal collections.

 

Q:  Does the policy carry an excess?

A:  Yes, the policy carries an £85 excess.

 

Q:  Can I get Immediate Cover?

A:  Yes, but we would require immediate payment via debit/credit card over the telephone. If the method of payment was a cheque the cover would not start until the cheque had been received. Bank transfers are also available.

 

Q: When will I receive my insurance documents?

A:  Your documents will usually be sent out the same day but please allow 5 working days.

 

Q:  Can I pay monthly?

A:  Yes, you will be asked to pay an initial payment and then the remainder of the premium would be spread over 11 monthly installments subject to standard terms and conditions.

 

Q:  Am I covered for accidental damage?

A:  This policy covers accidental loss or damage up to £2,500 to the landlord’s buildings and contents, for which you are legally liable as a tenant. The policy covers accidental damage to mirrors, fixed glass, ceramic hobs and ceramic tops of cookers & audio and audio visual equipment.

 

Q:   What type of tenant is acceptable?

A:  Professional individuals, students, DSS & Local Authority and asylum seekers.

 

Q:  What is the minimum and maximum cover available?

A:  The minimum sum insured is £7,500 and the maximum sum insured is £30,000.

 

Q:  What happens if the property is damaged and I have to find alternative accommodation?

A:  While the private residence cannot be lived in because of loss or damage covered by this policy we will pay for:

a) Rent payable for which you are legally liable for.

b) The reasonable cost of alternative accommodation up to a maximum of 20% of the contents sum insured for any one claim.

 

Q:   Am I covered if I lose my keys?

A:  We will pay for the cost of replacing keys and locks to an external door of the private residence or any safe following the loss of your keys. We will not pay more than £250 for any one claim.

 

Q:  Am I covered for damage to frozen food following a power failure?

A:  We will pay for the cost of replacing food in your freezer damaged as a result of accidental breakage of the freezer, escape from the unit of refrigerant and accidental failure of electricity or gas supply. We will not pay more than £250 for any one claim.

 

Q:  What happens if I need to make a claim?

Q:  What happens if I wish to cancel my policy?

A:  You are entitled to cancel your insurance policy at any stage during the policy term. You are have a period of 14 days in which to consider the content of your insurance policy, and the extent of the cover therein. Cancellation of your policy within 14 days is therefore subject to a full refund. Cancellation after 14 days will be refunded pro rata, less any commission or fees.
